Mattie needs a home

Mattie is a sweet, small black cat. A few months ago she was fending for herself and 5 small kittens outdoors. Luckily someone took them all to the Dumb Friends League. She was so very thin, but was such a great mom nonetheless. She took care of her kittens until them were old enough to be adopted. They all went to great homes last month.
Once the kittens were placed, Mattie had a chance to gain some weight and start acting like a kitten herself! Now all she needs is a home.

She has been my foster since early Sept. She is petite and has a beautiful face--shaped a bit like a Siamese. She likes to sleep on my bed (as shown in the picture) and sit on the arm of my chair or in my lap. She gets along well with my other four cats. Last night I saw her curled up in the same bed small pet bed as my 12-year-old male cat!

She is just over a year old (she was such a young mom!). She is hoping for a new home for the holidays!

Eat, sleep, play

Who wouldn't want to be a cat? Striker and my resident cats are getting along just fine. Striker found that his favorite toy is a cloth ball with feathers stuck in it. He can play with that for a long time, throwing it in the air and catching it or pouncing on it. Early on he did think that this game was fun in the middle of the night on the bed, but he doesn't do that anymore (at least he doesn't wake us up if he does).

Here is Striker, on the right, next to one of my cats. Awwwww!

I think Striker would be great in a home with resident cats, and I think he'd be fine on his own. He's very social and does seem to warm up to people quicker than most cats.

Striker Meets the Resident Cats

I've slowly been introducing Striker to my four resident cats. There has been some hissing and growling -- mostly from my cats -- but most of the time they just ignore each other. Striker doesn't seem to be bothered by my cats. I don't know if they'll start playing with each other, but at least Striker can have the run of the house.

Sweet Striker

Striker is really a sweet kitty. After he explores his room, he's ready to settle down next to me -- or on me -- and be petted. He really seems to be a cat that wants to be near his people. He's not too crazy about being picked up and carried, but he'll follow you wherever you go.

Striker

Striker came home with me yesterday, and he's still getting used to his new surroundings. He seems to be a very lovable cat -- he really wants me to pet him. His black fur is velvety soft -- how can you not want to pet him? And he has the most wonderful purr, too.
